Creating a tool for teachers in order to find affordable popular books for their curriculum.
My capstone for graduating the Talent Path training program and transitioning to work-ready, I composed a brief analysis on problems teachers experience when acquiring new materials for their courses. Through looking at school budget data from the National Center for Educational Statistics, I found that while teaching costs increased, up-to-date textbooks and reading materials did not increase. My project prototypes a tool for teachers to solve this issue, using a database generated from Goodreads Choice Awards and the New York Times Bestsellers.
Data was gathered from Kaggle (scraped from the Goodreads Choice Awards and New York Times Bestsellers, and pre-cleaned), prepped using Python in Jupyter Notebooks, and adjusted in Excel. Presentation formatting was completed in PowerPoint and loaded into Tableau.
