Determining relationships between education access and lower income areas.
In preparation for capstone, I briefly dove into looking at how Tableau can influence data analytics in education. Tableau provided a reference link to a dataset of universities in the United Kingdom named in the Research Excellence Framework 2014. I took this idea and decided to analyze whether or not there is a relationship between credited universities and lower income areas. For the UK, I referenced summarized A-level data and survey information from public government data portals.
To make this more relevant to my audience (presumably Americans), I found a dataset of accredited universities in the United States and their addresses, and looked at summarized SAT and ACT scores by state, taken from another public data portal. Information about US income areas come from Tableau's built-in median household income map layer.
Data was cleaned in Python and Excel. The presentation slides were designed in PowerPoint and stitched together with Tableau visualizations using Tableau storyboards.
